As a part of the Social Action program at Hannah Senesh, students have the opportunity to learn in school and with their families about supporting our greater community. Explore our events in school for students and events for families outside of school.

3rd grade Repair the World/CAMBA Food Justice Program
When
: Sunday, 3/17 from 12-2 PM
Where: Hannah Senesh
What:  Third graders and their families will be packaging supplies for neighbors in need and learning about homelessness in our city.  Repair the World NYC’s partner, CAMBA works with people experiencing homelessness every day to provides supplies and services. At this program, we’ll be assembling kits for people who live in shelters or sleep on the streets, will take part in hands-on learning activities to explore the issue, and will make family action plans to continue engaging with community members in need.


2nd Grade visit to Cobble Hill Health Center
When: Sunday, 3/31 from 10:30-11:30 AM
Where:  Cobble Hill Health Center, 380 Henry Street
What: Join your children in visiting seniors in our community.  They have been forging relationships all year long with residents of CHHC and will now have the opportunity to bring parents and siblings along to visit and display their talents with singing, playing music and entertainment.

4th and 5th Grade KEEN Event
When: Sunday, 4/7 from 10-11:45
Where: Senesh Gym
What: In line with the social action theme of Kavod L’Zolat (respecting others), save the date for a special event with KEEN- an NYC organization that provides non-competitive physical activities for youth with special needs.   Along with parents, students will be paired with a child and have the opportunity to engage in non-competitive physical activities and crafts led by KEEN coaches. 

1st Grade Family Gardening 
When:  Sunday, 5/19 from 10-12PM
Where: Senesh
What:  Join our resident horticulturalist, Anne Lilly, and participate in beautifying Senesh for Spring.  Families will garden in the  front and back gardens of the school as well as participate in a learning and craft activity connected to Shmirat Ha’adamah (Taking Care of the Earth).
