Meet the Board Members
JJ Berney
JJ is CEO and Founder of TriOaks Capital Management L.P., an alternative asset manager in New York. JJ has spent 14 years in the financial services industry focusing on companies in the media, entertainment, Internet, telecommunication services, gaming, lodging, and leisure industries. JJ graduated from Brandeis University. He joined the Hannah Senesh board in 2010, became Vice President in 2011, and sits on the development and finance committees. He and his wife, Michelle, have three children: Ruby (Class of 2019), Eva (Class of 2021), and Sam (Class of 2024). The family resides in Park Slope.

Lindsay Bressman
Lindsay Bressman is a trusted community leader who bridges authentic relationship-building with thoughtful and effective system design. Professionally reared in social work and process improvement, she has led both small and large teams within healthcare, education, and the Jewish community, using storytelling, user experience, and best practices to create solutions that both resonate and accomplish desired goals. Lindsay has an MSW from Columbia University and an MPH in Healthcare Management from UCLA and has worked in management roles at New York Presbyterian, Stanford Hospital, and DaVita and most recently as Head of Brand for four years at an education services company. She is now Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships at Civic Spirit, a start-up dedicated to developing civic education in religiously-affiliated schools. Lindsay facilitated the Senesh Parents Giving Circle in 2017-2018 and has served as a UJA voting committee member for the past four years. She lives in Prospect Heights with her husband Will, whom she met at Camp Ramah in Ojai, California, her son Leo (Class of 2025), and her daughter Ruby (Class of 2027).

Alex Budnitsky
Since arriving in the United States from Kiev, Ukraine, Alex has been working in the Jewish communal field for over 20 years and currently serves as the CEO and Executive Director of the Edith and Carl Marks Jewish Community House of Bensonhurst. Under Alex’s leadership, Marks JCH has evolved from being a local Jewish community center to a full-service human service agency serving clients from more than 30 zip codes throughout New York City. Alex holds masters degrees in journalism and social work from Columbia University. He is a graduate of the Institute for Non-profit Management – a joint program of Columbia University School of Business and UJA-Federation of New York as well as the Executive Development Training Program administered by JCC Association of North America. His international involvement continues through his consulting in the former Soviet Union on strategic planning, organizational development, and leadership development for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), AVI CHAI Foundation, as well as many other NGOs. Alex is a member of the Board of the New York Chapter of the American Jewish Committee, as well as a member of the Board of the Jewish Community Centers Association, Subotnick Housing for the Elderly, and is a founding member of Russian American Jews for Israel. Alex lives in Park Slope with his wife Maria and two daughters Anastasia and Talia Asya.

Frequently cited as an industry expert by The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, Boaz lectures at NYU, MBA program and is the co-author of The Real Estate Millionaire (McGraw-Hill). Brookland Capital is an active supporter of the Alley Athletes, offering at-risk children and teens leadership opportunities through sports. Boaz grew up in Jerusalem, and served in the Israeli Defense Forces before moving to New York to study acting at Stella Adler Conservatory and Philosophy at Hunter College. Boaz is married to Sue Gilad, a Broadway theatre producer. Brooklyn residents since 1996, they live in Prospect Heights. Their daughters Noa (Class of 2016) and Ella (Class of 2018) attended Hannah Senesh since Kindergarten. He enjoys travel, fine wine and cycling.

Amy Glosser
Amy joined the board in 2007. Most recently she has opened BYKlyn Cycling and Fitness. Her other work experience includes 8+ years in consumer packaged goods marketing at Kraft Foods and other companies. Amy has worked with several non-profit institutions including the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, CASES and the Park Slope Jewish Center, where she served on the Board from 2004-2007. Amy has an MBA from Wharton, an MA in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a BA from Vassar College. Amy is married to Janno Lieber, and is the mother of three children: Rhea (Class of 2014) Simon, and Frayda (Class of 2017).

Ariella Golomb
Ariella is a Managing Director at HealthpointCapital, a Private Equity Firm focused on the medical device market. She is a member of the Firm’s investment team, manages the Firm’s Scientific Advisory Board and other clinical relationships and oversees the operations of the Firm. Prior to joining HealthpointCapital, Ariella was a Project Leader for the Health Care Practice of the Boston Consulting Group, where she advised global life science companies on strategic management issues including product positioning, sales force restructuring and academic medical center alliances. While in business school, Ariella worked at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in the Women’s Health Marketing division. She is a member of the board of the Israeli medical device company, OrthoSpace Ltd., and the Executive Council of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. Ariella received a B.A. and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences. She went on to receive an M.B.A. from the Wharton School with a concentration in Health Care Management and an M.D. from the School of Medicine. Ariella and her husband, Tal, live in Carroll Gardens with their two daughters Eden (Class of 2022) and Dalia (Class of 2025).

Gary Gottlieb
Gary Gottlieb grew up in the East New York section of Brooklyn. He is a graduate of MIT and Stanford, where he received a Ph.D. in Operations Research. He was an associate professor at New York University and later Director of Fixed Income Research at Sanford C. Bernstein. He has two children: Sara, who graduated from Hannah Senesh in 2003 and is a junior at the University of Vermont, and Alexander, who is married to the Senesh Middle School math teacher, Geneva. He is now retired and lives in Brooklyn. The Senesh Library was recently renamed the Mary Gottlieb Learning Center, dedicated to his wife, a long time educator and reading specialist who passed away in the Spring of 2016.

Dan Greenberg is the Chief Digital Officer of the Interactive Engagement Group (IEG) at WNET, the largest public television station in the United States. In this capacity, Dan is responsible for producing websites and creating mobile applications for WNET’s television and film programs, its online marketing, and all their social media platforms. An active and dedicated Senesh parent, Dan served as Events Captain of the Hannah Senesh Parent Association. In this capacity, Dan organized activities to build a stronger school community. Through Dan’s efforts, Senesh families have spent a day farming at Eden Village, high fived the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center, gone ice skating in Prospect Park, and sung the national anthem at a Brooklyn Cyclones game. Currently, he is the PA’s Treasurer. Dan has volunteered to assist the Admissions Director in recruitment efforts and has taken a leadership role in improving our online and social media presence. Dan worked collaboratively with the Senesh administration to develop a new, user-friendly website. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, skiing, coaching baseball and spending time at the beach and bungalow with his family: his wife, Cindy, and children Tamar (Class of 2018), Ilan (Class of 2020) and Matan (Class of 2024).

Avery is the founding principal of VirtualGC, an innovative legal services platform that delivers “virtual” or outside general counsel services to a variety of businesses. His career has included big firm practice and in-house roles at Napster and Best Buy. Avery sits on the advisory boards of several start-ups and is a board member of Hospitality for Family and Friends, a not-for-profit that offers free hotel rooms to visiting relatives of pediatric cancer patients. At Senesh, Avery has co-chaired the annual campaign, supports his wife, Corinne’s, PA and gala work and can often be heard encouraging parents to march in the Israel Day Parade. Avery and Corinne live in Carroll Gardens with sons Eli (Class of 2023) and Bryce (Class of 2026) where he runs the DeGraw Street Association (mainly organizing block parties and listening to various people complain about unsolvable issues). Avery loves to play hockey with his sons, cabana days at the Silver Gull Beach Club, and tending to his backyard “kibbutz”.

Melissa Kushner
Melissa Kushner founded Yamba Malawi (formerly goods for good) in 2006 with a vision that every child in the world deserves the opportunity to achieve. Initially a charity-based model relying on the distribution of excess goods, in 2012, Melissa executed the transformation of Yamba Malawi’s program model into sustainable, locally-focused businesses that support vulnerable children in rural villages throughout Malawi. By utilizing a poverty graduation model, Melissa has helped Yamba Malawi develop businesses that generate income to fund education, health, and nutrition programs for nearly 90,000 orphans and vulnerable children. These businesses, which currently include chicken farms, honey beehives and soya and groundnut farms, create jobs, stimulate the local economy, and ensure Malawi’s children have the opportunity to thrive. Melissa received her Masters in Public Administration from New York University, and Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Melissa lives in Carroll Gardens with her husband Jeremy Kaplan, who she met at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires, and her four daughters Raya (Class of 2025), Aviv (Class of 2028), Leyla (Class of 2028) and Lena (Class of 2029).

Katherine Linder
Kitty is a valued member of the Carroll Gardens community. Living on 2nd place for many years, Kitty has seen the development of Senesh and knows how important the school is to the neighborhood and beyond. Kitty uses her extensive business background in line-of-business leadership in the telecommunications industry to advise start-up and growth companies on business strategy, operations excellence, management optimization, and product development and roll-out. She is on the advisory boards of Mobile Search Security LLC and consultants2go. In the community, she is President Emerita of the Board of Trustees of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City and was an active member of the board of the Brooklyn Academy of Music for 10 years.

Chava manages the portfolio of residential and commercial properties throughout New York City and Westchester County for Werber Management, a family owned and operated real estate investment, development and management company. She oversees building systems and improvements, compliance, communication and personnel. Chava holds a BA from Columbia University and a certificate in Residential Property Management from New York University. Previously, Chava held a number of leadership positions in Jewish education, including Director of Jewish Life and Learning at the Sid Jacobson JCC in Long Island, Judaic Studies Curriculum Coordinator and teacher at the Solomon Schechter School in Jacksonville Florida, and Hebrew School Principal at the Jacksonville Jewish Center. She is a current Board Member of Hannah Senesh Community Day School, Chair of the Endowment Campaign, and past President of the Parent Association. Other volunteer positions include the Advisory Board of the Teva Learning Center, UJA’s Jewish Greening Fellowship and 3GNY’s WEDU Holocaust education program in public schools. Chava is a graduate of Jewish day schools and met her husband, Craig, at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. Emily is a co-founder of the law firm Clarick Gueron Reisbaum LLP, a litigation boutique specializing in complex commercial and intellectual property matters. Previously, Emily was an Assistant United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. Emily earned her JD at New York University School of Law, and her BA at the University of Michigan, where she met her husband Scott Medintz. She and Scott have three children, all of whom have been at Hannah Senesh since kindergarten: Solomon (Class of 2013), Joshua (Class of 2015), and Miranda (Class of 2019).

Marcella serves on multiple for-profit and non-profit boards, including American Jewish World Service. She earned her BA in Public & International Affairs at Princeton University and MBA from Stanford University. This is her first year on the Hannah Senesh Board. Andy is the Chief Operating Officer at 100 Resilient Cities, a non-profit dedicated to helping cities become better equipped to deal with the economic and natural stresses which threaten them. Andrew holds a masters degree in Public Administration from Syracuse University, as well as a BA in Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He lives in Clinton Hill with his wife, Micki Fagan, and their two children, Asher (Class of 2019) and Levi (Class of 2021).

Judy Schoenberg
Judy Schoenberg is a seasoned mission driven leader with two decades of professional experience in the social sector focused on research, program development, strategy and philanthropy. She is currently a leadership consultant partnering with academic, non-profit, and start-up ventures. Previously, during her fifteen-year tenure at Girl Scouts of the USA, Judy was Chief Research Executive and led the Girl Scouts Research Institute. Her work has been featured at White House events and in national media outlets. Judy has also held positions as a program officer at a national women’s foundation and as a Brooklyn legal advocate. She is passionate about social action and wellness and was a Coro Leadership New York fellow in civic participation and is a certified health coach. For over a decade, she has co-led cooking classes with students at the Storefront Academy in East Harlem. She is currently a member of the board of Teens for Food Justice, a youth-led hydroponic farm program. Judy is also the chair of Senesh’s pioneering Giving Circle. Judy holds a bachelor of arts (comparative literature) degree from Haverford College and a master’s in education (human development and psychology) from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. A native New Yorker, she lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Jonathan and two sons, Robin (class of 2022) and Sascha (class of 2025) and enjoys spending time with family and friends in the Berkshires.
Judy Schoenberg is a seasoned mission driven leader with two decades of professional experience in the social sector focused on research, program development, strategy and philanthropy. She is currently a leadership consultant partnering with academic, non-profit, and start-up ventures. Previously, during her fifteen-year tenure at Girl Scouts of the USA, Judy was Chief Research Executive and led the Girl Scouts Research Institute. Her work has been featured at White House events and in national media outlets. Judy has also held positions as a program officer at a national women’s foundation and as a Brooklyn legal advocate. She is passionate about social action and wellness and was a Coro Leadership New York fellow in civic participation and is a certified health coach. For over a decade, she has co-led cooking classes with students at the Storefront Academy in East Harlem. She is currently a member of the board of Teens for Food Justice, a youth-led hydroponic farm program. Judy is also the chair of Senesh’s pioneering Giving Circle. Kurt Will
Kurt began his career in the field of financial information with Thomson Financial, followed by positions at Reuters and Dow Jones. Although raised in rural Illinois, he is an adventurer at heart and has lived, studied, and worked abroad extensively, including for several years as a student in Germany and Belgium, and almost a decade working professionally in Switzerland and London. He is fluent in German and French, holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of South Carolina, and also did post-doc work in Geneva. Kurt has lived in Brooklyn since 1998 and now lives in Carroll Gardens with his wife, Aviva, and their two children, Hannah (class of 2019) and Jakob (class of 2021). He is a stay-at-home dad, an avid road biker and cook, and enjoys any sort of adventure travel that comes his way.
